![]() ![]() I'd plug this in, plug the microphone into this and on the laptop mic port, plug the game chat line output from the controller. (this is much cheaper than either the astro mixamp or a full blown audio mixing solution) So for $2.09 you can get a usb microphone/card adapter on amazon. As a result, i'll have to find a way to either mix the two lines coming out of the controller, or use a usb audio card/device with multiple inputs. i'd rather my voice come from one single source. ideally i dont want to wear two usb headsets or even a second usb mic. one carries the game chat audio, the other caries the microphone output (or i wear two headsets, one of them usb and take that as a second track). now i basically have two 1/8" stereo outputs coming off the microphone headset xbox controller adapter. no need for 3rd party reaper (will try to use "stereo mix" input for the two ports combined or virtual audio cable) EDIT: correction, the elgato software in configuration, offers a checkbox to export the live commentary (and game chat in my case) as a separate audio file. ![]() ill record this as a separate one or two audio tracks and add to the video later (since the elgato doesnt record/split this out from the video by default). ![]() i dont care if commentary is mixed in with game chat, as it would anyway in most cases. that sends the signal to the line input (the only input on the elgato) (analog audio checked in the capture software). To get around the dolby digital issue, i'm using the amazon optical to analog converter in the first post. Voice commentary will be mixed in with game chat audio (but on a second line split out of the microphone adapter for the xbox controller) either via its own headset or using a secondary USB input on a laptop Game Chat audio will come via the xbox controller microphone adapter (no audio from game play, just chat) Either turn off dolby digital in xbox one or find a workaround Dolby Digital cant be recorded by Elgato HD60 Originating issues/recap: (all done on a laptop with only one mic input as of now) most of this is sketchy to find on the internet, so hopefully this helps others too. EDIT: I think an optical converter might do the trick for $29 (sends it back to RCA which i could join into a single cable to goto the elgato) Īssuming it sends both outputs at the same time. It would be nice to simultaneously output both analog game audio and 7.1 hdmi audio from the xbox one, but i dont think thats possible, not out of the box anyway. perhaps this is the only missing piece here? Unless there is another way to get the analog game audio (and chat too) that i'm not realizing.įor my headset though, i have a single 2.5mm (smaller size) connector, which i'm thinking i may be able to split into two, using a 2.5 mm to 3.5 mm splitting cord (reverse CTIA-Y splitter?) then back to the elgato and one to the controller (to get my voice recorded and heard without buying another headset with separate jacks for audio and mic) pretty sure it needs amplified with a small amp (astro mix amp? though $125). When i split the game audio (i think by using the game audio button on the mic adapter for xbox one), its pretty muffled and low volume. i have some or all of the cables you will see online for hooking into the controller to split the game audio and microphone to capture both (CTIA-Y splitter), game audio and the game chat from others, but apparently not your own voice, unless you use another microphone attached to the pc capturing the video (i'd like to find a way to just use one single headset too, but thats another issue). Now for the analog audio (Game and chat). i have the output of the xbox going to a splitter and on the second port it goes to the elgato. In my setup, for now at least, to avoid having to turn off dolby digital from my surround system. so if you have that turned on on the xbox, you are out of luck, unless you check off analog audio in the capture software and rig the setup so analog game audio can go into the capture device. Looking for some tips for those using the elgato capture device either with the ps4 and xbox one (should be similar methods).īasically when you goto use the device as i'm sure many are aware, it warns you that it cant capture dolby digital. ![]()
